COLLEGE & UNIVERSITY PROGRAM
We support our brightest high school graduates with guidance, tools, and necessities they need to learn professional skills in college.
The Problem
In Kenya, a shortage of formal sector jobs means that nearly all require a post-secondary education. Meanwhile, the cost of college makes many high-achieving high school grads fear they will never afford a college degree - and feel as if all their hard work and big dreams were for nothing.
What we’re doing about it
We help our brightest students pursue their college dreams by supporting them with the resources that they need to hone their talents, build their careers, and develop their country.
Post-secondary degrees in Kenya can open a path
to joining the middle class |
Nearly half of Kenya lives on less than $2 per day, but college education unlocks formal sector jobs that pay 10x more on average |
More than 1 in 3 of KOCC high school grads attend college or university, versus only 1 in 20 college-age Kenyans overall |

In 2018, 26 college students will continue their education through Friends of Kakamega sponsorships And we are proud to already have 25 college & university graduates |
